On May 4th The Centre for Race, Autobiography for Gender, and Age Studies (RAGA)
at the University of British Columbia and the Department of Sociology and
Anthropology at Langara are pleased to announce a lecture by Professor Pal
Ahluwalia, FASSA, Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Division of Education
Arts and Social Sciences, University of South Australia.
His main research interests lie in the areas of African studies, social and cultural theory, in
particular, postcolonial theory and the processes of diaspora, exile, and
migration. Professor Ahluwalia, will be presenting on his recent book titled:
Out of Africa: Post-structuralism’s Colonial Roots, London : Routledge, 2010.
He has also authored: Edward Said, London : Routledge, 2009 and with Bill
Ashcroft. 2nd Edition updated and revised Violence and Non-Violence: African
Perspectives, London Routledge, 2006.
The event is free and will be hosted at 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm, in room # 223, Jack Bell Building 2080 West Mall,Vancouver, UBC followed by light refreshments at the RAGA centre (in the same building).
